I’m about to conquer a massive fear, along with celebrities, VIP’s and the public, I’ll be scaling down a 33 storey building at the Abseil For Youth event (The Investa Building in Sydney’s CBD) to raise funds and awareness for the Sir David Martin Foundation and the amazing, much needed, work they do with Triple Care Farm for troubled youths. This will take place over three days – Thursday 15, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 of October 2015. I’m doing mine on Thursday morning (and I’m BRICKING MYSELF)
Triple Care Farm is Australia’s largest youth drug rehabilitation centre. For some people abseiling down a skyscraper is the scariest challenge they’ll conquer. For many however, their “scary skyscraper” is battling drug addiction, homelessness or mental illness. The centre has achieved awesome success with it’s program, with over 77% of young people successfully meeting their substance abuse use goal 6 months after program completion.
I’m pumped to be given the opportunity to help out with these cause and I urge you all to head to the Abseil For Youth 2015 site and check it out, make a donation (large or small) or even share this with your friends and family, in case like myself, they will be keen to give it a go! I’m also really, really lucky to never have had to even think about drug addiction, homelessness or escaping a bad family situation- so to support this cause is a no brainer for me!
I’ve cried. I’ve dreamt about it. I’ve ran it through my head several times and I’ve thought about backing out several times but what on earth does that achieve…dilly squat! I need to strap on my lady balls, NOT LOOK DOWN and get it done!
Please donate, please support and please cross your fingers for my safe keeping!
UPDATE: I DID IT!!! View my GoPro footage here
Is there anyone out there participating? What activity would leave you weak at the knees with fear?
