Most eating plans (let’s call them diets) work on restriction: Don’t eat this, eat this, skip that, don’t eat after blah blah o’clock. And after a while they aren’t maintainable and you “fall off the wagon” and feel like you failed. They generally only suit a certain personality type and they aren’t very social. Counting calories is about as enjoyable as a pap smear.
Lifestyle change, whereby you actually setup your life with regular movement, less stress more sleep, wholesome food with flexibility, including treats is a shit load more sustainable over time. It’s less stress on your body and yields better long term results. It’s about putting a plan in place, a bit like investing (think super or shares) and you work on tweaks along the way. It’s a slower process but the end result is worth it.
Not everyone is prepared to make 5, 10, 50 changes all at once- for some people they know hands down they will never even get past a few days without slipping back into their “old habits or old ways” HOWEVER if you have a plan in place that works with you and not against you then success is somewhat of a possibility than just a mere dream. For my clients that’s exactly what they find beneficial, for them the all or nothing approach didn’t work but sitting down (in person or via a video call) to find delve deeper, ask more questions is key.
It’s not your fault that you can’t follow the mainstream way of dieting/eating- it’s designed to see you fail. To bring shame and then to set you on another path (with your hand in your wallet again). It’s a cycle and it won’t end unless you learn how get freedom from it.
