Great Reads: The Barefoot Investor

What gal doesn’t need some sound, practical financial advice? My ears (and feminist heart) are paying attention when some of said advice includes “A man isn’t a financial plan!” Oh yes, you have successfully got my attention and (a billion other independent women!)

Scott Pape, is a well known financial expert (aka The Barefoot Investor) who has been featured prominently across many media outlets over the last decade: news paper columns, TV and radio. In 2014 he and his family lost everything in the Victorian bushfires, he had come back to ashes (literally nothing left on his country property) and made a very bold statement to himself (and his family) that would change the course of the rest of their lives.

The great thing about Scott sitting down and writing this book, is you and I will benefit BIG TIME from the sensible advice he shares throughout the entire book. Advice that I have already put in place and it’s super easy to do!

There are no strict budgets and senseless ideas about how to save money, this is advice at a grass roots level- for the average Jo/Joe. Scott is also a self proclaimed fiercely independent investment advisor, which is TOTALLY what you want and need, ladies! If you don’t know this already financial dudes receive loads of kickbacks (cash, all expenses paid junkets, bonuses, etc) for recommending a certain banks certain product to us. So it’s wise to receive independent advice when it comes to our money because it’s OUR MONEY

Seriously, do yourself a favour and sit down with this book. If you are single, as Scott recommends take him and yourself out on a barefoot date (it’s cool, his wife is ok with all!) listen, learn and most importantly take action.
