I celebrated my birthday not long ago and my partner decided a surprise “experience” was in order. We’ve done some cool things previously- Hot Air Ballooning was memorable but slightly hair raising as I don’t really do well with heights.
I was quite panicked on a drive to our mysterious destination, thinking of all the things I could be venturing into. After my thrilling (and again FREAKING SCARY) 33 storey building abseil, I know I can pretty much do things I never expected to, so I tried to summon up my inner tough girl and just get to the destination without over thinking.
I remember on one of our bush walks to Morton National Park, near where we live, I had mentioned how awesome zip lining would be- I don’t know if really meant it though. Low and behold we rock up at the Illawarra Fly . My first reaction was fear, I thought it was really high up but it’s not. After I was briefed, I was excited. It’s such a doable activity, even kiddies could do it.
We were lucky being the only ones booked in our time slot, we got a personal tour and our guides were really friendly. You get taken on a little safety briefing first then you are guided through the rainforest (which is lovely). There are a series of zip lines and rope bridges to make your way over and when you have completed it all you are free to explore the Treetop Walk. The views are stunning and definitely photo worthy.
Have you tried zip lining? How much dare devil have you got in you?
