Meat: So Hot Right Now!

MMMMMMMeat! Grill it, roast it , barbecue it; Whatever which way you choose, just eat it.

As Summer slowly makes it’s way back into our life so too will throwing a nice hunk of meat on the fire. I decide to start early and get my meat eating well under way. I try to consume a variety of meat (I try my best only to eat grass fed/free range or organic meat) and have it most days bar my 2 vegetarian nights. I feel the need to have a break from meat (just to be nice to my digestion) and on those days I munch on lots of plant proteins instead of animal proteins.

Preparing meat is super easy and even the most non-accomplished cook can do it. Keep it simple, stupid! Grab a griddle pan, oil up your roasting dish or fire up the bbq. Below are 3 of the world’s easiest dinners to prepare in under 10mins.

Moroccan Lamb with Salad:

Oil your lamb steaks and then add some Moroccan spice (think cumin, turmeric, ginger, paprika and chilli. Either buy a pre made one or make your own)
Cook your steaks on a griddle pan to your liking. Meanwhile prepare a simple salad of Lettuce, capsicum, cucumber, sweet potato (that was a leftover item from the night before) and tomato. Dress with oil and lemon.
When the steak is cooked, Plate up!

I’m feeling a little German now, Yar! Here’s a delicious Slaw to serve with a piece of juicy beef  (mustard on the side is a must!) and a handful of rocket.

Serves 2
Red cabbage 1/2 cup
Celery 2 stalks
Half an apple
1/2 small fennel bulb

Grate all veggies in a large bowl. Add one large dollop of organic mayonnaise and the juice of half a lemon. Crack lots of pepper and add a good pinch of salt. Refrigerate till needed.

Finally, we have a little Tex-Mex ode to Meat.

Serves 2
Prepare your steak to your liking and while its cooking get started on this simple side:

Stir fry Broccoli, snow peas and capsicum in a frying pan with a little oil (1 tsp per person will suffice). Add chilli flakes (to your taste), 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp paprika (sweet or hot), and a garlic clove (crushed). When the veg is almost ready, drain and rinse 1/2 can of red kidney beans. Pop them in with the veg and heat through.
